First Term News Letter 2023/2024
Posted on | 2023-12-14It is heart- warming to pull through to the end of a successful term despite the uncertainty generated by the present economic situation in the country. We wish to appreciate all our esteemed parents for collaborating and believing in us at such a wonderful time. God Almighty will continue to shower His blessings abundantly on you because of these children.
ACHIEVEMENTS:
I. The 2023/ 2024 academic session from 4th September till 15th of December 2023 was a remarkable term fashioned with lots of exciting activities and celebration such as: Girl Childs Day, Teacher\'s Day, Independence/Cultural Day and Christmas Carol to crown it all.
ii. The Parent Teachers Association (PTA)Excos officially unveiled the Interactive Board on the 25th of November, 2023. Since then it has been properly utilized by the teachers to meet the technological need of the learners.
iii. Jeco students embarked on educational trip to Badagry, where they visited the Nigerian French Village and the Slave Market on Monday 11th November, 2023. Hence, more anticipating excursion next term.
iv. This term\'s activities was also packaged by the appointment of some capable and well-mannered students as prefects in various offices to carry out key leadership responsibilities. As such, the school organised Leadership training/ Orientation for all the perfects on the 25th of October, 2023 to acquaint the them with tenets of successful leadership.
v. In order not to compromise the school’s standard, all the Science teachers were on their toes to ensure that Science Practicals are carried out successfully before the end of the term. Again, the Scheme of work for this term was dully exhausted by each subject teacher
vi. The school management uses this medium to appreciate all parents for the good attendance during the Open- Day. Your comments and observation would be implemented without delay as we look forward to seeing you in subsequent Open Days
VACATION: This term comes to an end Friday 15th December, 2023 for a three-week holiday
RESUMPTION: Due to Lagos state Ministry of Education academic calendar for 2023/2024 session. The school will resume on 8th January, 2024.
SCHOOL FEE/ BUS FARE: We use this medium to plead with our dear parents to pay at least 80% of their children(childs) school fee on or before the 6th of January, 2024 and 100% of the bus fare. This is to enable the school to carry out some logistics demands. Also, parents who are yet to complete the first terms school fee payment are advised to do the needful before resumption date.
DRESS CODE/ FOOT WEAR: The management appeal to all parents to ensure the students appear neat in appropriate school uniform. The dress code for each day is as follows: -
MONDAYS- White shirt / neck tie on sky blue trousers/ skirt with Navy Blue Blazers” Foot wear-- Black shoes
TUESDAYS-- White shirt/ neck tie on sky blue trousers/ skirt \"without Navy Blue Blazers\". Foot wear- Black shoes
WEDNESDAYS--/The New customized T- shirt on Blue pair of jeans. \'Foot wear- white Trainers\'
THURSDAYS-- The new sportswear. Foot wear: - Pair of Trainers
1st Friday -- Community uniform. Scout/ Red cross
2nd Friday-- Ankara Top on Blue Jeans

BECE, WAEC/ NECO EXTENSION CLASSES:
The extension classes Jss 3 and SSS 3 in preparation for their forthcoming external examination will commence as soon as the school resumes next term January, 2024. The extension classes for JSS 3 runs only on Saturday\'s while the SSS 3 classes is every morning from 7: am to 8: 30 am, also every evening from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Monday\'s to Thursdays.
In view of this, Parents are to plan, prepare along with the sch male to make the students readily available for the classes promptly.

Posted on | 2023-10-20Sincere gratitude to God Almighty for the smooth sale of business this half of the term. We thank all our esteemed parents for partnering with us successfully .
ACHIEVEMENTS
1. The resumption for the 2023/2024 academic was hitch free. The first week of resumption from 4th to 8th, September, 2023 was fun filled particularly for new students as they were duly oriented on some basic things they needed to know about the college, this was anchored by the school's counselor.
2. JECO college in its Uniqueness celebrated Independence/ Cultural Day titled " Celebrating Our Strength in Diversity" in a grand style on 29th of September, 2023.Jeco students were dressed in their various native attire. The culture of each region was showcased in food, drinks , dances and languages
3. The Director of Jeco college appreciated the entire workforce magnanimously on the National Teachers Day celebration which was marked on 5th of October,2023. The best teacher of the year went home with the grand prize of large Micro-wave oven, while the consolation prizes were won by other members of staff.
4. The International Girl Child Day was also observed in JECO College. The occasion captioned " My Voice Our Equal Right" was furnished with intensive teaching session handled by a professional lecturer cum mother Mrs Ndunaka Helen. It was a memorable day for the girls as worrisome questions was answered satisfactorily .
5. Due to the advent of technological innovation in teaching and learning , The Director of JECO college has provided two brand new Interactive board to the school for teaching and learning.
MID- TERM TEST / BREAK
The mid- term test was conducted on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th of September ,2023 and the results are readily uploaded in the students portal. While the Mid- term Break commences from Monday 23rd - Friday 27th October ,2023
However, students are required to judiciously utilize this period for their projects and assignments posted on the portal.
Please parents are to take proper care of these young champs while on holiday season. We expect to receive them back hale and hearty.

Posted on | 2023-09-14*Parents were appreciated for attending despite the heavy downpour.
*WAEC and NECO performance of our students was commended as the school solicited for more support and co-operation from the parents to keep the success story intact.
Orientation and placement of the transiting JSS3 students were done and they\'ve been rightly placed based o their area of strength.
*Valedictory gifts were appreciated by the parents.
*The school new uniform for only the boys and the new look of the girls\' skirt which are still in the pipeline were shown to the parents which was highly welcomed.
* The initial coding club has been broadened to accomodate other activities and now under the name, Steam (Science, technology, engineering, Arts and Mathematics). These include Coding/Robotics/Electronics as well as other related activities.
*At senior level, this club in now compulsory for ALL the science students to join irrespective of their former clubs while the junior students are allowed also stay be in the club or go to whichever club their parents want them to be.

Posted on | 2023-08-23We return all glory to God Almighty who has been faithful to us and for being our shield all through this challenging period. May His name be highly exalted.
ACHIEVEMENT:
* Jeco College press club organized talent Hunt this term. It was such a wonderful moment to see these young champs display hidden talents which could never be envisaged.
* Jeco students participated in STEM and TECH competition organized at LE BRIDGE multi-learning centre Ikorodu and bagged 2nd position overall, even at first attempt.
* The new cafeteria project carried out by our magnanimous Director has been completed henceforth, Jeco students will eat their lunch luxuriously in a more convenient environment having the Junior and Senior Cafeteria separately built.
*The WAEC examination for SS3 class of 2023 was a huge success. We are optimist that the results will be the best.
VACATION: The third term 2022/2023 academic session closes on Friday 21st July 2023 for six weeks holidays. Hence, parents are advised to please take good care of the children during the break.
RESUMPTION: School resumes fully for 2023/2024 academic session on 4th September,2023 by the grace of God. We hope to see all our returning students and new intakes in good health condition.
SUMMER COACHING: This year\'s summer coaching will by the grace of God commence on 1st of August 2023. The summer as was earlier advertised is majorly skill acquisition based. The exercise runs for Mondays- Thursdays from 9:00am -1:00pm daily for four weeks.
SCHOOL UNIFORM/FOOTWEAR: We encourage parents to ensure their children appear in a neat and complete school uniforms and appropriate footwear next session God sparing our lives.
SCHOOL FEE/BUS FARE: Parents are hereby informed that there is minimal adjustment in school fee and bus fare as well as other areas of service rendered by the school in order to slightly meet up with the economic situation and exchange rate of the country.
VALEDICTORY SERVICE: The Valedictory service to commemorate the graduation of the SSS 3 and JSS 3 class of 2023 is slated for Saturday 22nd July,2023 with the opening of the new cafeteria.
PLACEMENT EXAMINATION: We want to bring to the notice of the JSS 3 transiting students that there will be placement test for all JSS 3 students on the last week of summer coaching.
More over, parent whose children are in SSS 1- SSS 3 will be invited for a symposium on subject combination and career guidance in the school. The date will be communicated to parent when the time comes.
BOOKS/STATIONERY PURCHASE: Parents are advised to get their ward\'s books and Stationaries from the school bookshop. The prices are as given by the publishers and it greatly guides against pirated books being sold outside.
We wish our students a joyous holiday even as we look forward to welcome them back in the new academic session.

Posted on | 2023-04-14We give glory to God Almighty for His presence with us all through this term. Our appreciation again goes to you our Valued Parents for making us your choice. We are indeed, most grateful.
Below are the highlights of the term:
* We had our second biennial interhouse sports competition and it was a glorious event, with the GREEN house coming first this year. The support of you parents was second to none and it\'s never taken for granted. Thanks for being there for us all the time.
* Our Music/Arts Studio was opened this term, nicely equipped and beautifully decorated. Students have been dropping in/out of the studio for their various learning activities. Thanks to the Director for this giant stride taken to build the talents/skills inherent in our students.
* Our students became fully certified and recognized members of Boys Scouts and Red Cross this term.
THIRD TERM HINT:
* Our external exams will be coming up this term by the grace of God and therefore, the JSS3 and SSS3 students won\'t be going on holiday except the public holidays alone. Their extension classes start from Tuesday, 11th April, 2023 from 9am-1:30pm each day.
They are expected to come ONLY in their SPORTSWEAR and NOT multi.
* We appreciate parents who are prompt in their fees payment as we also encourage those who are not to please do so. Our prayer is that no one will replace you when it\'s time to reap the fruits of all your labour on this children in Jesus name.
We want to remind you that 80% of the total fees is paid before resumption and the complete charge/fare of the bus(where applicable) is paid as defaulters won\'t be picked up by the driver or allowed into the school if these conditions are not met.
* Only the approved school wears/footwear are expected to be worn by students to avoid violators being sent home.
* No neck/wrist chain is allowed in the school(religious or not).
* Dangling/dropping earrings are not allowed except stud.
* Skincut is the approved hair cut for the boys and ONLY the hairstyle called for the girls should be the style plated.
* We implore parents to work in tandem with the school to wage war against students coming late to school.
* Students\' Projects/assignments should be monitored by parents and submission date should be strictly adhered to.
* The JSS3 and SSS3 will be having their VALEDICTORY programme this term, being the term that ends the session. It is a programme set aside to primarily, thank God and to celebrate the students as some are moving on to the next phase(higher institutions) while others are transiting to the SENIOR cadre. Not all those who started are still alive to witness the event. So, let\'s plan to make the event a memorable one for the children. The bill for the programme will be sent soon.
* We want to encourage our parents to be more security/safety conscious as on one can really be trusted now. We pray to God to shield us from all evil and keep us safe in Him.

Posted on | 2022-12-20On behalf of the entire Management and staff of Jeco College, we say thank you to all our valued parents and greater thanks to God Almighty for bringing us this far.
Below are the highlights of activities for this concluding term and some glimpse of events to come in the coming term.
*The school celebrated this year\'s Valentine\'s Day with the entire students where the Director bought pizza for all the students to make the day a memorable one.
*The Annual Workers\' Day was also held where the Director appreciated the entire staff.
*This year\'s Girl-Child Day was held in the school with the entire student. The girls were given sanitary pads while the boys were given boxers. A renowned actress, Hilda Dokubo was invited as the Guest Speaker who spoke on Bullying.
*The Christmas/End of the year party was held where the students and the entire staff were treated to a nice meal and an Ankara was given to the students as souvenirs.
*The termly PTA Meeting was held and another emergency one was held in the term to rub minds with the Parents on the forthcoming interhouse sports competition.
*The school Relay Team made the school proud in the invitation relay they went and it was an experience the students won\'t forget in a hurry.
*A new Coastal Bus was added to our fleet of vehicles for comfortable and easy conveyance of students to/fro the school.
*Dress Code: The Students\' Dress Code remains unchanged except for the introduction of the Ankara given to them which must be worn on every second and last Fridays of the month. The only approved footwear is black shoes and the school navyblue socks.
*The only approved styles for the students Ankara have been posted on Parents\' platform.
*Hairstyles:Boys are to have cleanshave while the girls are to carry only the neatly plaited hairstyles called. No dangling earrings except stud and no wristband or neckchain is allowed (religious or otherwise).
*External Exams: Registration for BECE/WAEC/NECO has commenced. Parents are to do the needful to ensure the success goal of the school on the students is achieved.
*Payment: We appreciate all the parents who have been paying their wards fees promptly and pray for those who are still struggling to do so that God Almighty will prosper all our Parents in Jesus name.
It is expected that 80% of the total fee and full payment of the school bus(where applicable) is paid before resumption. We implore all our Parents to PLEASE, help us in this regard so as to be able to meet up with our huge financial obligations.
*Parents/School Partnership Programme: Many parents and members of staff have been benefitting from this programme by introducing children for enrollment into the school. We want more Parents/staff to key into it as the school won\'t overlook this kind gesture but appreciate such Parents/staff both in cash and kind
HINTS ON SECOND TERM
*Saturday Tutorials: Saturday tutorials starts in January for Students in JSS3 and SSS3 between 9am-1pm. This is to prepare them for their forthcoming external exams. The fee for this exercise has been added to their bill for the next term. Concerned classes only)
*INTERHOUSE SPORTS: The school interhouse sports competition will be coming up on the 17th of February 2023, God sparing our lives and each student is to pay 35k which has been added to their bill. The money covers for sportswear,feeding of Parents,Students staff, invited schools, Officials etc., payment for venue of the Heat and the D-Day, payment of Officials, fuelling the vehicles, buying of more sports apparatus, rentals, DJs and other countless things needed to make the day a success. We pray for God\'s wholeness of blessings upon our Parents in this concluding year and the coming year.
*Security Consciousness: we urge our Parents to be security conscious as nowhere is safe and noone is to be completely trusted. So even as we pray, let\'s still be guided.
